OUR HISTORY
SOAKED WITH TRADITION
Eppig Brewing is an award-winning craft brewery in San Diego County helmed by Principal Brewer Nathan Stephens and Brewer / Co-Founder Clayton LeBlanc, both veterans of the legendary and innovative brewery Ballast Point. In 2016 they partnered with fellow co-founders Stephanie Eppig and Todd Warshaw to resurrect her family's brewing heritage 150 years after the establishment of the first Eppig brewery in Brooklyn, New York, which belonged to her German relatives.
RE-INVENTED IN 2016
While the original brewery in Brooklyn has been lost to fate and time, our forefather's commitment, ambition, and dedication inspire us to this day. We are proud to honor these timeless and rich brewing traditions in San Diego. Eppig Brewing is committed to serving only the highest quality beers - drawing from a deep tradition of innovation and independence to create beers that are distinctly our own. Thank you for helping us continue the Eppig legacy.
THE EPPIG BREWING LEGACY
In 1866, after emigrating from Bavaria to Brooklyn NY, Leonhard Eppig and his brothers founded a new and vibrant German lager brewing tradition that built a brewing empire. Growing through the early 1900s, the brewery discreetly endured the trials and tribulations of prohibition with dubious help from illicit "beer barons". A turn that ultimately put a pause on the Eppig family's brewing aspirations.
